FI310 Wildland Fire Investigation Training

The US Forest Service(USFS), BLM and National Fire Academy (NFA) will be sponsoring an FI310 course March 2-6, 2026 in Reno, NV. The latest version of FI310 was finished this fall by the NWCG. The course focuses on the investigation of complex arson wildland fire cases in a serial arson task force setting. The course is a combination of lecture, labs, and a practical exercise. In the labs and the final practical exercise, student teams will plan, analyze, organize, and conduct a complex serial arson investigation. The target audience for the course are active fire investigators, to include experienced uniformed LEOs, criminal investigators with limited fire/arson experience, and experienced non-LEO fire investigators that have an opportunity to work on large arson or complex fire investigations.

If you are interested in attending the course please reach out to the appropriate contact listed on the attached flyer. For state and local agencies, search for FI310 on the NFA’s website. Applications can be submitted after December 15th. State and local agency travel costs may be covered through the NFA.
